Relatively new to the game. Help!
Hi, so I'm an oldschool Guild Wars player. I played it when it first came out and loved every bit of the prophecies campaign. I stopped playing when Factions came out, not because I was bored or anything but because I was going to school too much and we all know this game can suck you in for hours at a time...
...anyways, I've come back and purchased the 3 disc set; Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall. Currently I have a level 16 Dervish/Warrior (soon to be Dervish/Elementalist) and I'm having a blast. However, I think I've missed out on a lot of updates since I last played. I hear a lot about tomes, books, titles and all sorts of new PvP stuff. Can anyone briefly, (or in a detailed fashion, I don't care), explain to me some of the stuff that might be "new" to me? Thanks a bunch. (Also, I joined a guild, hoping it would be helpful my first day back. However, the only thing they do is PvP, GvG and more PvP/GvG...PvP is cool, but I'm trying to ease back into the PvE portion first and catch all the storyline and capture some skills before I venture into the PvP portion of the world. So if any of you know of any good PvE guilds, could you throw me a bone? Thanks again!) Last edited by Akeido; Nov 17, 2008 at 11:42 PM // 23:42.. Reason: Omitted something. |

Welcome Back.
TBH, you'd be better off browsing through the Wiki to get a basic overview of all those things, then ask some more specific questions after, if you have any. EDIT: Re: Guild, check your PM's. Last edited by Winston; Nov 17, 2008 at 11:45 PM // 23:45.. |

Titles: The new thing that keeps people going because they require lots of time to complete.
Tomes: Skills in a box... They drop in HM from monsters of that profession. They allow you to learn any skill in the game that your account has unlocked, either through buying it on a different character, doing the quest, purchasing using hero skill points, or through PVP. Hard Mode: A second option for more experienced players to do. All monsters move faster, attack faster, cast faster, and have a higher level. Guardian Title involves completing the game mission + bonus/masters in HM. Vanquisher involves killing every foe in every non mission instance in the game in HM. Books: These fill out as you progress through the game. Each mission is one page. You hand these in to NPC's that accept them for a large amount of faction, experience and gold. Dungeons (Eotn only): A series of chained instances derived from a quest that leads you through a bunch of enemies, and levels before reaching the big bad boss whom leaves behind a chest once you kill him or her. PvE skills: These are skills that are only usable by characters in PvE. They cannot be used by heroes, and are improved by getting a higher rank in that pve reputation title (sunspear, lightbringer, asuran, norn, vanguard, delver, luxon, kurzick.) SIgnets of capture are counted as pve skills. Inscriptions/Insignia: These allow a player to change the mods on any armor, or inscribable weapon to that which suits them better. I think this is pretty much a sum up of all the major game play changes since you joined in. Obviously you know about heroes since ur running around with a dervish. |

Hard Mode is available for all your characters in any campaign which you have finished with at least one character on your account.

Another thing you could do is get into a good guild that is willing to help out and answer questions... nothing helps out more than asking people in game as you do things Good luck with your game play hope you have fun
